Ellen Shindelman Kowitt is President of the JGS of Colorado. She is responsible for representing the group and conducting meetings of the Society. Ellen also serves as webmaster and teaches the Jewish Family Tree Initiative: Workshop and Mentoring Series. Ellen was editor of the Society newsletter, Chai From Colorado, and she has participated in Society indexing projects.

Dr. Alvin Perlov is Treasurer of JGS of Colorado. He is responsible for fiscal matters pertaining to the Society.

 Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Alvin recently retired from providing dental care to Colorado families for over 35 years. A graduate of East High School, Alvin earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Denver in 1964, and his D.D.S. from New York University in 1968. After completing dental school, Dr. Perlov enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served from 1968-1971. Through his service in Vietnam, he earned the Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medal. Alvin lives in Englewood with Hilary, his wife of 42 years, and has two children, Chad and Jessica.

Genealogy has led Alvin to Lahishyn, Brest, Belarus in the early 1800s. A completion of branches in the U.S. followed by study of Kovel, Poland and parts of France are in the future.
