Monday March 25 2024 Volunteers Needed for JGSCO Indexing Project!

10 AM to 3 PM

Join the Jewish Geneolgy Society of Colorado members and friends at University of Denver once or twice a month between October and May as we complete the JCRS patient application index that was started over 20 years ago! All files are now available and an expanded names index with 2,000 additional patient names through 1954 will be placed on JewishGen this month. But, additional data remains to be keyed.

Every Colorado-based member is encouraged to sign up for at least 1-2 sessions. Whether you have a connection to JCRS or not, come for the camaraderie and excellent experience of learning how original documents become part of searchable databases. It is a mitzvah to give back, as we all benefit from the work of others to find our own ancestors on JewishGen.

Free lunch and parking reimbursement will be provided!No experience or particular skills are needed. You will work in teams of two with one person reading from files and the other keying the relevant information into a spreadsheet. Then all material will be proofread. We will pair volunteers onsite, so come alone, come with your significant other, or bring a non-JGSCO friend along but we do require that you register 

Training handouts provided by David Fasman and Claire Blyth of the Beck Archive. JGSCO leaders Ellen Beller, Ellen Kowitt, and/or Susan Lauscher will be present at every session to assist.

DU Lot 315 or Lot 301 – you will be reimbursed.

Food:

No food is allowed in the archives.

There is a small café on the main floor of the building for snacks.

Lunch will be provided by JGSCO, probably in the main dining hall a short walk across the street.

You are also allowed to bring your own lunch to eat outside of the building.
