This event offers an energized retrospective of the groundbreaking announcements made by MyHeritage at RootsTech 2026. As the genealogy landscape increasingly embraces artificial intelligence, this session serves as a vital roadmap for researchers looking to leverage cutting-edge tools to break through long-standing "brick walls." From the transition to whole-genome sequencing for all new DNA kits to the debut of sophisticated AI assistants, the presentation highlights how technology is being harnessed to transform static records into rich, narrative histories. Whether managing a small family tree or navigating vast international databases, genealogists will find these innovations essential for streamlining their research and uncovering hidden ancestral stories.

Key Takeaways

  • The Power of Scribe AI: This revolutionary "AI historian" goes beyond simple transcription; it can interpret messy handwriting, translate documents in real-time, explain symbols on gravestones, and even analyze historical fashion in photos to estimate dates and locations.
  • Enhanced Visualization and Assistance: New features like "Country Coding" automatically add flags to family trees to illustrate ancestral origins, while the upcoming GAIA (Genealogy AI Assistant) provides personalized research guidance based specifically on a user’s unique family tree data.
  • Infrastructure Upgrades: MyHeritage has expanded its database to over 39 billion historical records and 438 million newspaper pages via OldNews.com, supporting these discoveries with a platform now available in 50 different languages to ensure global accessibility.
